John Edwards admitted to ABC News in an interview with Bob Woodruff Friday that he repeatedly lied about an extramarital affair with a 42-year old campaign employee, but strenuously denied being involved in paying the woman hush money or fathering her newborn child. The former Democratic U.S. senator from North Carolina said he would be willing to take a paternity test and divulge the results publicly.Interesting parsing by Mr. Edwards. He is either:
A. Telling the truth and admitting to an affair with a total slut, or;
B. Lying and accusing his lover (and the mother of his child) of being a total slut.
Edwards had better be sure that it is A.
If it is B., any chance of any chance of a quiet and civil negotiation of child support is gone.
UPDATE, 8/9/08, 10:15 A.M.:
That didn't take long.
The family of John Edwards' former mistress, Rielle Hunter, is challenging the former senator to take a DNA paternity test after his claim that he did not father Hunter's six-month old child.In the first reaction from Hunter's family, her younger sister Melissa told ABC News that Edwards should immediately follow through on his pledge to take a paternity test.
"I would challenge him to do so," the sister said. "Somebody must stand up and defend my sister," she said. "I wish that those involved would refrain from bad-mouthing my sister."
I'll put my money on Option B.
