Name That Team!

I am taking the plunge.

With the encouragement of family, friends, and virtual acquaintances, I have decided to enter my first barbecue contest.
The Big Pig Gig is a KCBS sanctioned contest being held in Menomonee Falls on September 29 & 29.

I've got my recipes. I've got my smokers. I even have a barbecue related corporate affiliation. But I do not have a team name.

Please cast your vote for your favorite team name on the sidebar poll. If you have another team name suggestion, please post it in the comments of this post.

The polling will continue until the name I like best wins.

"Lord of the Flies" BBQ

If I hadn't already picked my team name, I would have picked that one.

This obviously came from experience. You are bringing back memories of Boy Scout camp-outs.

I think that competing is a fantastic idea. Your Q will continue to improve, and you'll meet a bunch of cool cats.

And remember...you and your $150 WSM must defeat all those other guys cooking on $15K Lang smokers. The Minion name is at stake.

BTW...are you going to focus on any specific category for the first outing?

Sal,

I intend to compete in all 4 KCBS categories, but would like to team up with someone if possible for the first couple times out. I will need an additional WSM whether I go solo or not.

I (meaning Mrs. HB) is not satisfied with the quality of my brisket. I'm going to develop a different approach for comps.

I'm also getting naming feedback from the suits at the corporate sponsor:

"As for the name, it is your team and it is your right to choose whatever name you like. However, if I didn't think you were able to live up to the Roadhouse name I wouldn't have suggested it in the first place."

I take it you're not convinced you should be the Blackwater BBQ Assassins. 'Tis a shame, because that is such a cool name.

Steve - I like the Blackwater name too, and a lady I work with really likes it - she's been stuffing the ballots.

However, I recently read that Blackwater Security works hard to disassociate itself from any extra-legal activities. Associating Blackwater with these things can give enemies of the U.S. a basis to rationalize attacks on Blackwater employees.

So what is a fun name for me, could lead to a deadly connection for these patriots. Based on this, I won't be using the Blackwater BBQ Assassins name. A shame too, because I had designed a cool logo.
